Legends of the Night Watch

Legends of the Night Watch – a masterpiece of Dutch painting as an exclusive PLAYMOBIL special set

The special edition #71626 "Legends of the Night Watch" was created on behalf of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam as an addition to set #5090 "Night Watch", released in 2015. The set is based on the famous painting by Rembrandt van Rijn, one of the best-known works in Dutch art history and one of the Rijksmuseum’s most important exhibits. The project was originally launched to support the restoration of the painting as part of "Operation Night Watch", a research and restoration project that takes place publicly in the museum. This special edition is aimed at art enthusiasts, museum visitors, PLAYMOBIL collectors and fans of the Rijksmuseum.

Contents of the set:
- 4 figures with musket, flag and drum
- 1 dog

"Legends of the Night Watch" takes up one of the Rijksmuseum’s most famous artworks and combines its renown with a distinctive PLAYMOBIL design. The set recalls the enduring significance of the "Night Watch" and the public restoration project that has accompanied the painting for many years.
