With the special set #72141 “Maria of Jever”, the City of Jever brings a key figure of its history into focus in a contemporary and tangible way. Maria of Jever, the last ruler of the independent Lordship of Jever, shaped the region through political wisdom, a strong sense of responsibility, and a pronounced commitment to justice. She succeeded in safeguarding Jever’s independence from powerful neighbouring territories while ensuring stability, order, and social welfare within her domain. To this day, Maria of Jever remains ever-present in the city: at Jever Castle, in street names, in stories and legends, and not least in the knowledge of many children who encounter her history at an early age. Her legacy is a central element of Jever’s historical self-image.

This high-quality special set was commissioned by the City of Jever as a limited special edition and is intended for targeted use in city marketing.
